What is your full name? Do you have a stage name?
My full name is Arogundade Oladapo Ayoola, I don’t have stage name yet, so for now I’m sticking to Dapo.
What made you go into music? How long have you been into music?
When I was younger, I used to follow my mum to choir rehearsals. She was the choir coordinator at that point. Listening to their rehearsal patterns, I fell in love with the whole music p. When I was seven years old, I was the leader of the children’s choir. I was always at the fore front on any musical platform from that point. I won a lot of talent hunt competitions in secondary school, so I’d say I discovered my musical talent at a very young age.
How did your family first respond to your decision to go into music?
They’ve always been supportive. They’re still in support of my music, and by Jah’s grace, my hustle go pay.
How would you describe your music and your sound?
I call myself The Versatile Sound a.k.a Wave boy, so I’d say my music is unique and versatile. Afro pop, trap, any genre I’d kill. Zero pride tho. Wizkid and Davido are my major Nigerian inspirations. They’re the ones making Nigeria proud and setting the pace for the younger generation. Chris Brown and Justin Bieber are my international inspirational beasts.
Are you currently signed to a record label?
No I’m not signed to a record label. But I’ve gotten different offers, so we’re still in talks.
What are your immediate plans, music-wise?
I want to put out good stuff and treat my fans to good sound. Let me drop an exclusive — I got two songs and two videos for my people before the year runs out.
How much impact has appearing on Project Fame added to your career?
I really learnt a lot during my stay in Project Fame. I won’t change it for anything, and it has made me a better singer and performer. They’ve given me the necessary platform to kick-off my musical career and I’ll forever be grateful for that.
Love you guys, keep supporting Dapo and good music. You can keep in touch with Dapo by following me on the following platforms
